Prof. dr Fernanda Florentino Fernandez Jankov, RAD PhD is a Law Graduate from both the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and the University of Nottingham Law School, United Kingdom. She achieved her Master's Degree in Latin American Integration from the University of São Paulo and obtained a Doctorate in Law from the Federal University in Parana, Brazil, fully nostrified in Portugal by the Ministry of Education and in Serbia, by the Ministry of Education, Belgrade Law Faculty.

She also holds a post-graduate course in Taxation and Tax Litigation (Procedural Law) by IBET, University of São Paulo, Brazil.

Prof. Fernandez was a senior researcher at the Institute of Comparative Law within the Ministry of Science in Belgrade, Serbia, in addition to being a professor at the University of Belgrade Law School, lecturing in Judicial Protection in the EU, Tempus Program.

She was a Professor of International Corporate Law and Taxation in São Paulo for more than 10 years.

She is a member of such prestigious organizations as the College of Arbitrators FDI Competition in Frankfurt and has achieved recognition of her academic background from the Bar of England and Wales.

Prof. Fernandez has worked as a visiting fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law in London. Her book, "The Principle of Universal Jurisdiction in International Criminal Law: International Criminal Court’s Mechanism of Implementation", is based on her Doctoral thesis, researched at the University of Cambridge during her time spent as a visiting fellow at the Lauterpacht Research Centre for International Law.

For the past 24 years she has concentrated her practice in the areas of Wealth Management, International and European Corporate Law, International Taxation, Banking and Finance Law.

With a strong client base in South America and Europe as public and privately held entities, investment banks, investment funds, trusts, foundations, wealthy investors and family offices she has a significant experience in counseling them in development and management of the legal structure required for their success.

Her caseload includes representing a financial institution in setting up its main structure for issuing securities and collaterals based on agricultural and mineral products. She has also advised legal entities operating in the financial market on risk management and compliance mainly towards director’s accountability for corporate actions that arguably have broken the law.

She has counseled wealthy investors in the decision making process regarding the set up of their international taxation plan covering the main principles applicable to taxation links and the corporate structure in the jurisdictions chosen. This process has involved a thoughtful coordination of international legal systems across multiple jurisdictions.

Representing a well know educational institution in Brazil, she coordinated the legal team in charge of structuring its franchise programme, which nowadays is considered one of the top 20 trademarks offering franchises in Brazil and in South America. Moreover, within her experience in corporate law is her ability of working with ‘mergers and acquisitions’ cases, mainly though the counseling of board members.

Having worked in complex cases including investigations procedures of alleged crime of corruption in the judiciary in Brazil, she is highly respected for her aggressive approach in building up new legal strategies for a certain case, strongly based on the democratic rule of law.

In the field of Space Law her publication on 'The Impact of the Declaration of Legal Principles in the Development of Remote Sensing ́s International Legal System: Revisiting the concept of States ́International Responsibility' In: International Astronautical Federation Congress, 2003, Bremen.  American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, reflects her ability in applying her academic background to innovative legal solutions in facing the challenges of a highly technical and globalized market.

Finally she has a solid experience in judicial protection in the European Union, having worked with natural and legal entities in the cases related to the Freedom of Movement of persons, capital and goods and services.
